Wendyknits and Knitters Help Japan

Wendy D. Johnson (WendyKnits to most) is a terrific knitter and designer.  I use her Socks from the Toe Up book as my basic sock recipes and have admired many of the shawls and sweaters she has blogged about.  Her newest Shawl is the Japanese Garden Shawl and it is, as you might imagine, as stunning as all her other work.

This isn’t just a shawl, however.  Until the end of April, all proceeds from the sale of this shawl are going to the American Red Cross to help with their relief efforts in Japan.  That makes this shawl more than just knitting.  There is Intention going on in both pattern and project, and it’s something we here at IY can really get behind.

In order to help WendyKnit’s efforts, we’d like to give away a copy of the pattern.  Please leave a comment on this blog entry *with your Ravelry name* by Sunday March 27 at 9pm EST and I will gift one commenter a copy of the pattern on Ravelry.  Please also add the shawl to your queue and click “add to wish list” so that I can easily gift the pattern to you.

It seems that when faced with a crisis, knitters come together to help as best they can.  Now, more than ever, it’s clear to me that all our Intentions have love at the core.

I can’t seem to figure out how to add a pattern to a wish list on ravelry… :(

teribella – go to ravelry. Click on the pattern tab. Search for the Japanese Garden Shawl. Once you find it, click “add to queue.” A box will appear with some stuff for you to fill out. Ignore everything except the little box that you can check that says “Include this Ravelry Download PDF on my wish list” with the little present next to it. Once you’ve done that, you’re golden!

      Hope that helps.
